Construction Manager

Westside is looking for a Construction Project Manager. The Project Manager is responsible for multiple construction projects throughout their entire lifecycle from estimation to closeout. Projects will involve various trades and subcontractors and will vary in size ($2,500 – $2,000,000 plus), scope, and complexity. The ideal candidate will be someone who can visit a project site and quickly identify errors and omissions and review those effectively with onsite superintendents; someone who can read drawings and identify alignment issues among the various disciplines; and someone who can use construction management software to effectively document progress and update cost projections.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Review contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare project status reports and actively monitor submittals to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications.
  • Review and submit budget estimates and progress and cost-tracking reports.
  • Manages and coordinates all aspects of major projects including overseeing contractor, architect, engineer and other consultants. Work with committees and staff on campus to make sure the college’s standards and needs are being met by the project documents.
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with contract documents, building and safety codes, and other regulations.
  • Ensures timely payments by administering and overseeing the contractor payment process.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or a similar field and at least 8-10 years of overall construction management work experience
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of building construction including civil, building development, MEP, change order process, contract management, project controls, and schedules.
  • Ability to manage multiple large and small projects; be decisive and work well under pressure, particularly when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Detail oriented; ability to work collaboratively and professionally with a wide range of internal and external customers.
  • Possess intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project.
